Program Add-On

Beneficial Nematodes: Organic Pest Control for DFW

A 100% organic solution to soil pest prevention — and the reason a fully organic plan can still deal with grubs, chinch bugs and fire ants. Beneficial Nematodes are an add-on to the Soil Building Program.

What They Are

Microscopic, and already meant to be there

Beneficial nematodes are microscopic, soil-dwelling worms that use insects as a food source and as a host for their offspring.

They occur naturally in healthy soil. What we are doing is not introducing something foreign — it is restoring a population that intensive chemical treatment tends to wipe out. A lawn that has been treated conventionally for years is usually missing most of its soil biology, and that includes the organisms that would otherwise be keeping pest larvae in check on their own.

How It Works

Three to five days, and entirely selective

Nematodes enter hosts through openings, releasing toxins that kill pests in three to five days. They selectively target insect pests, leaving your turf, pets, family, and earthworms unharmed.

Three steps: a nematode enters a pest, releases bacteria, and the pest is destroyed in three to five days

How It Works

The pests that do the real damage

Chinch bugs and grub worms quietly kill North Texas lawns. They feed at the soil line, making damage appear as drought stress until advanced.

Scheduling

Spring and fall, as a population — not a rescue

We apply nematodes in the spring and the fall. Applying twice a year means we are continually reintroducing a healthy nematode population into the soil, rather than relying on a single treatment to hold all season. This is prevention that compounds, which is the same logic as the rest of our program.

The Organic Route

How a 100% organic plan handles pests

  1. We are straightforward about the limits

We are clear about the limits of organic products. No organic solution controls weeds effectively, and we state this on our program page.

  2. Where organic works exceptionally well

Soil pests vary. Nematodes control grub worms, chinch bugs, and fire ants without chemicals, making organic plans effective for pest control. This method rebuilds the soil's defenses unlike chemical treatments.
