Roundup Damage!

This might look like some kind of fungal disease in the Bermuda lawn. But on closer inspection, we discover that this is actually damage caused from Roundup.

Homeowners and uneducated lawn care companies often spray Roundup in their lawn in winter and early spring, thinking their grass is totally dormant. Or, they are totally unaware of the fact that Roundup will also damage the grass. Be aware that Roundup is a non-selective herbicide and it will damage or kill anything in its path, including your turf grass. Grasses like Bermuda and Zoysia don’t always go completely dormant in the winter and so they can be damaged when sprayed with herbicide even during “off season”.

These dead areas of lawn will need to be removed and patched with new sod or else new br /oadleaf weeds will just move in to take it’s place. It also appears as though this lawn has had an uneven application of synthetic fertilizer based on the uneven color and growth pattern.
