How Do We Make Liquid Compost Extract?

Well, we’re not going to give ALL our secrets away! But we did want to show some of the behind-the-scenes methods we use to turn compost into a powerful extract fertilizer for your lawn and landscape. What is liquid compost extract exactly? Liquid compost is our most advanced organic application. Better than compost tea, liquid compost is a super nutrient-dense concentrate of the most beneficial elements of our high-grade compost. Containing both minerals and an abundance of naturally-occurring live elements, liquid compost is the closest thing to compost in a liquid form.

Here is our owner, Michael Bosco, demonstrating the compost extractor. First, we use our extractor to “wash” the nutrient dense organic materials we compost at our facility and collect from local businesses like The Texas Worm Ranch. The liquid strained away becomes liquid compost extract.

This washing process leaves us with a liquid that contains all the beneficial micro-organisms that were living in the compost, along with important nutrients. We combine this powerful liquid compost extract with our organic liquid fertilizer produced in our Aquaponics system, plus microbial foods and trace elements to create the most effective liquid fertilizer.

What we’re left with is “clean” organic matter and grit that can go back into our composting operation.

Application of our liquid compost is now a standard part of our annual Soil-Building Program. Lawn, beds and tree application of liquid compost is also a part of this program! Our liquid compost extract fertilizer is perfect for rejuvenating stressed lawns and landscapes. Soil temperatures in summer can limit the uptake of certain much needed nutrients by your lawn and landscape. Liquid compost extract can not only help provide these nutrients quickly, but also provide beneficial microbes to stimulate break down and availability of nutrients in your soil.

If you’ve not recently fed your lawn and landscape, now would be a great time to feed. Give a call at 972-272-9211 or contact us online.
